Translate email designs in Figma with the Lokalise API

What this video covers

The video shows how to translate an Emailify email design in Figma by connecting the Emailify plugin to a Lokalise project through the Lokalise API. Things you'll need

  • An Emailify Figma plugin installation
  • A Lokalise account
  • A Lokalise project with target languages set up

Steps

  1. Open a new Figma file, find the Emailify plugin in Resources, and run it or save it for later use.
  2. Create an Emailify container for the email design, then click the Localize button in the Emailify plugin header.
  3. Choose the Lokalise API option, create a Lokalise project, and copy the Project ID from the project URL.
  4. Generate a Lokalise API Token with read and write access, then paste the Project ID and API Token into the Emailify Lokalise fields.
  5. Select the email frame in Figma and click Upload to send the text content and screenshots to Lokalise.
  6. Translate the text in Lokalise by editing the language fields, then return to Emailify and click Import Translations.
  7. Review the newly created translated page in Figma and use Preview or Export HTML to export the localized emails.
