This tutorial shows how to localize HTML email designs in Figma using the Emailify plugin and Markdown formatting. It demonstrates exporting email content to Excel, editing translations and formatting per locale, then importing the localized content back into Figma and exporting the finished emails to HTML.
Things you'll need
- Figma
- Emailify Figma plugin
- Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet tool
Steps
- Open the Emailify Figma plugin from Resources or Saved plugins.
- Create or open an email design and add example formatting such as bold, italics, and links.
- In Emailify, click Localize, choose the Excel export option, enter the locales you want, and enable Add Markdown.
- Export the content as XLSX, then open the spreadsheet and edit each localeβs text, links, and Markdown formatting as needed.
- Return to Emailify, open Localize again, enable Import Markdown Formatting, and drag in the edited Excel file.
- Click Localize Selected Frames to generate translated email frames on a new Email Translations page.
- Use Export HTML to export the localized emails and preview the generated HTML files in a browser.
