Testing HTML emails with Mailgun Inspect
Emailify includes a dedicated Mailgun Inspect integration for uploading HTML email tests directly from Figma. This is separate from both the Email on Acid integration and Emailify's Mailgun sending integration.
Before you start
You'll need:
- A Mailgun account with access to Inspect email previews
- A Mailgun private API key
- The region associated with your Mailgun account: US or EU
You can copy your private API key from the Mailgun API Security settings. Mailgun uses api as the API username and your private API key as the password.
Treat your private API key like a password. Don't paste it into your Figma design, email content, or a file you plan to share.
Upload an email test
- Open Emailify in Figma and select the email frames you want to test.
- Open the Export panel.
- Select Mailgun Inspect under Upload For Testing.
- Choose the US or EU Mailgun region for your account.
- Paste your Mailgun private API key.
- Click Send To Mailgun Inspect.
- Log in to your Mailgun account to review the generated email previews.
Emailify creates a separate Mailgun Inspect preview test for each selected email. The request contains the generated HTML and subject line, while Mailgun Inspect determines the preview clients available for your account.
Troubleshooting
If the upload fails:
- Confirm you selected the region that matches your Mailgun account.
- Check that you're using a current private API key, not a public validation key.
- Confirm your Mailgun plan includes Inspect email previews.
- Make sure any remotely hosted images in the email can be accessed publicly.
The Emailify export confirmation shows the error returned by Mailgun Inspect. You can still download the generated HTML files if an upload fails.
