Exporting your slides to Canva

Export your Pitchdeck slides from Figma to PSD files that can be imported into Canva.

This video walks through how to export Figma slides to Canva via PSD files with one click using the Pitchdeck plugin.

To export your presentation for Canva, click the Export Presentation button in the Pitchdeck toolbar, then select the Canva (.psd files) export format.

By default, Pitchdeck exports one .psd file per selected slide. For multiple slides, download the .zip file and unzip it before importing the numbered PSD files into Canva. A single selected slide downloads directly as a .psd file.

Slide order and file size ​

With the default settings, each PSD contains one slide so Canva does not combine the whole deck onto one large canvas. The numbered filenames follow the export order shown in Pitchdeck. Import the files in filename order and check the page order in Canva after importing.

Canva supports importing PSD files up to 300 MB per file. Pitchdeck warns when a file exceeds that limit. If a slide is too large, turn off 2x Retina Images and try again.

Combining slides into one PSD ​

Combine Slides into One PSD is off by default. Enable it to pack the selected slides into a single PSD. Canva may import that file as one large canvas instead of separate pages. Leave this option off when you want each slide in its own PSD.

If the combined deck exceeds the export size or memory limits, Pitchdeck may reduce Retina resolution or automatically split it into separate PSD files in a ZIP.

Text appearance ​

Text remains editable by default. For unrotated text boxes, Pitchdeck retains the full Figma text box in the PSD so Canva does not narrow the box to the visible letters. Canva may still substitute fonts and reflow words during PSD import, even when the font is available in Canva.

Render Text as Images (Non-Editable) is off by default. Enable it to render text as non-editable image layers instead of rich text, using Figma's rendered typography. This avoids font substitution and preserves the original line breaks. You cannot edit the wording or text formatting in Canva when this option is enabled; other layers remain separate.

Image settings ​

The Canva export includes the same Image Settings controls used by other image-based exports:

  • Compress Images reduces the generated PSD file size where possible.
  • 2x Retina Images exports a higher-resolution PSD.
  • Downsize Large Figma Image Fills optimizes oversized Figma image fills before exporting.

Importing the PSD files into Canva ​

Open Canva and import the exported .psd file from your computer. If Pitchdeck exported a .zip file, unzip it first, then import the separate .psd files into Canva. Canva will convert each PSD file into an editable Canva design where supported.

Animations, videos, embeds and Pitchdeck web presentation features won't be included in the exported PSD files. These are only used for presentations uploaded to the Pitchdeck web app.
