Things you'll need

  • A Figma file with frames to export
  • An MP4 video hosted on Dropbox or another file hosting service
  • Microsoft PowerPoint desktop app to play the embedded video

Steps

  1. Open the Figma file, search for Pitchdeck from the actions menu, and run or save the Pitchdeck plugin.
  2. Create a thumbnail image layer for the video and duplicate it to make a separate placeholder layer named for the video embed.
  3. Upload the MP4 file to Dropbox, copy the file link, and paste that URL into the video layer in Pitchdeck.
  4. Refresh the layers so the thumbnail and video layers appear correctly in the plugin.
  5. Open the export menu, change the export format from web URL to PowerPoint, and turn on Include MP4 video URL embeds.
  6. Click Export for PowerPoint, then download the PPTX file.
  7. Open the PPTX in Microsoft PowerPoint and play the embedded video from the slide.
