Adding slides to your deck

Any top level Figma Frames, Figma Components or Figma Instances that you add to your Figma page will be treated as slides in the Pitchdeck plugin.

For the best results, please ensure that all of the Figma Frames, Figma Components or Figma Instances you want to use for slides are all the same size.

Using a consistent frame size at a 16:9 ratio (for example, 1280x720 or 1920x1080) tends to work best for presenting on most screens.

Adding longer scrollable frames Including any Figma Frames, Figma Components or Figma Instances that are taller than they are wide (for example, 1920x2600) will automatically be turned into "scrollable" slides when presenting in the Pitchdeck Web App; this can be helpful for presenting things like website mockups or other longform "pages" in your deck.

If you want to use portrait orientation frames (for example, 1080x1920) and not have them scrollable (which is the default behavior), you can add &contain=true to your passwordless Pitchdeck presenatation URL, or ?contain=true to your Pitchdeck URL that doesn't have a token, and this will ensure the slide is contained within your screen size and doesn't scroll.

Rotated parent frames will affect element positioning. Note that using a parent frame that has rotation (any non-zero value), will affect the x/y positions of its children. This can sometimes happen by accident if you initially created a portrait frame, then rotated it to landscape. To ensure that everything is positioned correctly, please ensure that your parent Figma Frames, Figma Components or Figma Instances don't have any rotation on them.

Loading slides from Figma

If you select a subset of your top level Figma Frames, Figma Components or Figma Instances on the canvas before opening Pitchdeck, or before refreshing the slide loader, Pitchdeck will focus on those selected items so you can load just that subset.

This temporary canvas selection does not change the include or exclude checkboxes for your other slides. You can refresh again later to load additional slides without losing the saved checkbox state for slides that were not part of the current Figma selection.

Selecting a slide to edit

You can switch between your slides in the plugin by clicking the image thumbnail for each frame in the left hand side of the Pitchdeck plugin.

Parent level Figma frames required. To load any slides into Pitchdeck, your Figma page must contain at least one parent Figma Frame, Figma Component or Figma Instance. This means, any Figma Frames, Figma Components or Figma Instances that are located directly underneath your page.

Inlcuding or excluding slides to include

You can include (or exclude) any Figma Frames, Figma Components or Figma Instances from being used in your presentation by clicking the checkbox next to the frames in the left hand side of the Pitchdeck plugin.

Refreshing your slides from Figma frames

If the Pitchdeck plugin is already running and you need to add or remove any parent Figma Frames, Figma Components or Figma Instances on your current Figma page, you can make those updates as needed and then click on the Refresh icon button in the Pitchdeck plugin toolbar.

Auto-scrolling slides into view

To Switch between editing slides, Pitchdeck automatically scrolls a slide into view in the preview window when it's corresponding layer (or child layer) is clicked on the Figma page.

This also works the other way around, where if you click on the frame, component or instance icon button (depending on the slide layer type) next to the title of your slide in the preview window, the corresponding Figma Frame, Figma Component or Figma Instance will be automatically scrolled and zoomed into view on your Figma page.

Resizing the plugin window

If you're using a bigger (or smaller) computer monitor, Pitchdeck lets you resize the plugin window to make it easier to use and view the timeline depending on the size of your screen. You can resize the window from smaller to larger (4K) sizes by clicking the size dropdown in the main plugin header menu.
