Update Figma text from Google Docs with DOCX files

Things you'll need

  • Figma with the CopyDoc plugin available
  • A Google Docs document for editing the exported DOCX file

Steps

  1. Open Figma’s Resources icon, search for CopyDoc under the plugins tab, and save or run the plugin.
  2. In CopyDoc, choose Export text layers and set the format to DOCX.
  3. Export and download the DOCX file, then upload it into Google Docs through File > Open > Upload.
  4. Edit the text in Google Docs, including names, subheadings, tags, formatting, and links.
  5. Download the edited file from Google Docs as Microsoft Word DOCX.
  6. Back in Figma, open Import text layers and drag the updated DOCX file into the drop zone.
  7. Review the preview of changes, then click Update Figma text layers to apply them.
