This tutorial shows how to use the CopyDoc Figma plugin to export selected text layers from a Figma frame to a CSV spreadsheet, edit the text in a spreadsheet app, and import the changes back into Figma. It also shows how to review detected text changes before updating the selected layers.
Things you'll need
- Figma
- CopyDoc installed from the Figma Community
Steps
- Install the CopyDoc plugin from the Figma Community under the Plugins tab.
- In your Figma file, right-click and open Plugins, then run CopyDoc.
- Select the frame or text layers you want to export, then click Quick Export.
- Choose the export format, such as CSV, and select an ordering option, then click Quick Export CSV and download the file.
- Open the exported CSV in a spreadsheet app, edit the figma_text values, and save the updated file as CSV.
- Back in CopyDoc, open Import Text Layers, drag in the updated CSV, review the detected changes, and optionally deselect any you do not want to apply.
- Click Update Figma Text Layers to re-import the approved text changes into Figma.
