What this video covers

This tutorial shows how to use the CopyDoc Figma plugin to sync Airtable spreadsheet data into Figma layers. It also demonstrates repeating rows into duplicated layers, using the same data in an auto layout frame, and generating a table from Airtable content.

Things you'll need

  • A Figma file with the CopyDoc plugin available
  • An Airtable base with column headers that match the Figma layer names
  • An Airtable personal access token with the data.records.read scope

Steps

  1. Open your Figma file, find CopyDoc in Resources under the Plugins tab, and run or save the plugin.
  2. In CopyDoc, open Sync Content, choose the Content tab, and change the source from CSV Excel file to sync from Airtable URL.
  3. Paste your Airtable URL, create an Airtable personal access token with the data.records.read scope, grant access to the correct base, and paste the token into CopyDoc.
  4. Name and save the Airtable source, then load the content preview to see the Airtable columns and rows.
  5. Make sure your Airtable column headers match the Figma layer names exactly, such as #title, #genre, #minutes, and #poster.
  6. Select the matching Figma layers and click sync rows with layers to map each Airtable row into the selected design.
  7. To repeat a single card automatically, enable auto repeat, select the layer inside an auto layout frame if needed, and click sync and repeat selected layer; you can also switch to the Table tab and generate a table from rows.
