What this video covers
This tutorial shows how to use the CopyDoc Figma plugin to export Figma text layers to Airtable, edit the content in Airtable, and then reimport the text updates back into Figma. It also shows how to set up Airtable access with a personal access token and sync changes in both directions.
Things you'll need
- A Figma file with text layers
- An Airtable account
- Airtable personal access token with data records read, data records write, schema bases read, and schema bases write scopes
Steps
- Open the CopyDoc Figma plugin from the actions menu or from Saved plugins.
- Click export text layers, choose the Airtable option, and select the frames you want to export.
- Create or open an Airtable base, copy its URL, and paste it into the plugin.
- Create an Airtable personal access token with the required scopes, copy it, paste it into the plugin, name the connection, and save Airtable.
- Export the text layers to Airtable, then edit the Figma text column in Airtable while leaving the ID values unchanged.
- Return to CopyDoc, open import text layers, load the Airtable preview, review the changes, and click update Figma text layers.
- Repeat the export process whenever you want Airtable and Figma to stay in sync.
