Export AVIF images

This tutorial shows how to install the TinyImage Compressor Figma plugin and use it to convert JPG layers in Figma to AVIF. It also demonstrates adjusting export quality, applying per-image overrides, and exporting the converted files as a zip for use on the web.

Things you'll need

  • Figma installed
  • TinyImage Compressor installed
  • Images or layers with export settings set in Figma

Steps

  1. Open Figma Community, search for TinyImage, and install the TinyImage Compressor plugin.
  2. In your Figma file, make sure the images you want to export have export settings in the Export section.
  3. Right-click the selection, go to Plugins, and open TinyImage Compressor.
  4. Open the settings panel and choose Image Conversion, then select Convert JPG to AVIF.
  5. Set quality values or per-image overrides if needed, then select the images you want to export.
  6. Click Compress Selected to convert and export the images as AVIF files, then save the result as a zip.
