Export animated PNG (APNG) images from Figma

This video walks through how to export animated PNG (APNG) images from your design's layers directly from Figma using the TinyImage plugin.

TinyImage supports exporting animations as animated .png (APNG) files using the same animation editor UI and workflow as the GIF exporter.

Using the same animation editor as GIF exports ​

The APNG workflow uses the same frame selection, ordering, timing, transition, and preview controls as the GIF workflow.

To configure those shared controls, follow the GIF animation editor guide:

Exporting to animated PNG (APNG) format ​

Once your animation preview is ready:

  1. Open the export format dropdown in the animation toolbar.
  2. Select Animated PNG.
  3. Click Export to render your animated .png file.

After rendering finishes, TinyImage will automatically download the exported APNG file to your computer.

Saving file downloads from Figma If you're using the Figma desktop app, you'll see a prompt appear to download your file. However, if you're using Figma in a web browser, your file will automatically be downloaded to your computer by default (usually to the Downloads directory on your computer).
