GIF Frame Transitions

Add and configure transition effects between GIF frames, including speed and transparency limitations.

This video tutorial is a complete step-by-step guide showing you how to add fade/slide/wipe transition effects to animated GIF exports in Figma using the TinyImage plugin.

By default, frames switch instantly. You can choose a transition type:

  • Instant
  • Fade
  • Slide left
  • Slide right
  • Slide up
  • Slide down
  • Wipe right
  • Wipe down

Transition Speed ​

Use Transition Speed to set effect duration from 200ms to 1000ms.

Longer transition speeds increase the rendered frame count and can increase file size.

Transparent Background Limitation ​

When Transparent Background is enabled, Fade and Wipe transitions are not available.
