Export Figma to Adobe InDesign

This tutorial shows how to use the Convertify Figma plugin to export Figma designs to Adobe InDesign as an IDML file with a links folder for image assets. It demonstrates exporting either an entire page or selected frames, then unzipping the package and opening the IDML file in Adobe InDesign.

Things you'll need

  • A Figma file with frames to export
  • Adobe InDesign

Steps

  1. In Figma, open the Actions icon, search for Convertify under the Figma plugins tab, then run it or save it for later use from Saved plugins.
  2. In Convertify, choose the export Figma to Adobe InDesign option under the export from Figma heading.
  3. Choose export this page to export every frame on the page, or select the parent frames in Figma and choose export selected frames to export only those frames.
  4. Click download zip and save the package.
  5. Unzip the file to access the IDML file and the links folder.
  6. Open the IDML file in Adobe InDesign and keep the links folder with it so the image assets stay linked correctly.
