What this video covers

The video shows how to use the Convertify Figma plugin to trace bitmap images and import them into Figma as editable SVG vector layers. It also demonstrates that starting with a sharper, upscaled JPG, PNG, or WebP image can produce cleaner vector results.

Things you'll need

  • A Figma file
  • The Convertify Figma plugin
  • A bitmap image such as JPG, PNG, or WebP

Steps

  1. Open your Figma file, go to Resources, search for Convertify under the Plugins tab, and run it from Saved plugins.
  2. In Convertify, go to the import options and select Import image as traced SVG to Figma.
  3. Drag and drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP image from your computer into the plugin drop zone.
  4. Wait for Convertify to trace the image and generate the SVG paths.
  5. Click Insert SVG to Figma to bring the traced vector into the file as editable layers.
  6. Optionally download the SVG file instead of inserting it into Figma.
  7. For better results, upscale lower-resolution images first before importing them.
