Import Adobe InDesign to Figma

This tutorial shows how to use the Convertify Figma plugin to import Adobe InDesign .idml files into Figma with one click. It explains how to package an IDML file with its links folder into a zip, then drag it into Convertify to bring InDesign pages in as editable Figma layers.

Things you'll need

  • A Figma file with the Convertify plugin available.
  • Adobe InDesign files saved as IDML, along with the links folder.

Steps

  1. Open a Figma file, find Convertify from the Actions icon or saved plugins, and run the plugin.
  2. In Convertify, choose the import option for Adobe InDesign to Figma.
  3. In Adobe InDesign, save the document as an IDML file, not an INDD file.
  4. Zip the IDML file together with the links folder so image assets are included.
  5. Drag and drop the zip file into the Convertify drop zone in Figma.
  6. Review the imported pages and edit the resulting Figma layers, text, images, and grouped content.
