# Upscale images in Figma

> Upscale images with local AI using Boost resolution, while keeping the Figma layer at its current display size.

1. Choose **Local AI**, then select the **Boost resolution** tab.
2. Choose **2× resolution** or **4× resolution** and a processing option. **Automatic** prefers graphics processing when available, with CPU fallback.
3. Choose **Boost resolution**. On first use, TinyImage automatically downloads the approximately 4.6 MB **Gentle** model, which preserves more original texture, then processes the image. Later uses reuse the model while the plugin is open.
4. The editor preview shows the boosted result. Inspect it at **100%**, and use **Before** or **Compare** to check it against the pixels immediately before boosting, including your existing edits. You can cancel the download or processing without changing the image.

Your images stay on your device. Current edits become part of the enhanced pixels; [History](/tinyimage/editor-history) restores the earlier image and settings. Output is capped at 4096 pixels per side. Inserting keeps the current display size in Figma; downloads use the enhanced resolution. **Crop & resize** sets new insertion dimensions.

After a successful boost, the button shows **Resolution boosted** and is disabled for that image. To choose a different resolution, undo the boost in [History](/tinyimage/editor-history), then choose the new resolution. Cropping and other edits do not enable another boost. **Reset all edits** or opening another image enables it again. Saved projects retain this status.
