# Adding social icons to your email designs

> You can add social icons to display a row of customizable icon links inside of any Column layer in your email designs.

## Adding social icons to your Columns layers

You can add a social icons component to any Column layer in your emails by clicking on your Column layer in Figma, then selecting the **Social** option in the Quick Add drop down menu, then clicking the **Add +** button will automatically create a new social layer in your Column, along with a few social icons.

### Adding additional social icons to your Social layer

You can also add more social icons by clicking on your new **Social** Figma layer that the plugin created, then selecting a social icon option from the Quick Add drop down menu, and then clicking the **Add +** button to automatically add that social icon into your social element as a new social icon link.

> **Tip:** You can set the `alt` text attribute or add a clickable `href` URL link to your social icons by [using the Settings button](/emailify/content/link-social-icons) in the plugin header.

## Using custom vector icon layers for your social icons

If the social platform icon isn't available in the presets included with the plugin (using the Quick Add instructions above), you can drag and drop your own SVG vector layer _inside of_ an existing social icon layer created by the plugin, and then delete or hide the original vector icon that was inside of the social icon link layer previously.
