# Rename Figma layers in bulk from a spreadsheet

**What this video covers**

This tutorial shows how to use the CopyDoc Figma plugin's sync content feature to rename Figma layers in bulk from a spreadsheet. It also demonstrates how the same workflow can update text layers and work with either Google Sheets or an Excel file.

**Things you'll need**

- A Figma file with the CopyDoc Figma plugin installed or saved
- A Google Sheets spreadsheet shared with anyone with the link, or a local Excel file

**Steps**

1. Open the CopyDoc Figma plugin from Resources or from saved plugins, then open the sync content feature.
2. Create a spreadsheet where the first row is the column header that matches the Figma layer name, and put the replacement names underneath it.
3. If using Google Sheets, set General access to anyone with the link and copy the sheet URL.
4. Paste the Google Sheets link into CopyDoc, choose the correct tab, and click use selected sheet.
5. Select the matching layers in Figma and click Sync Rows to rename the layers.
6. For text layers or nested layers, add matching column names and values in the spreadsheet, then repeat the sync to update text content and layer names.
7. To use Excel instead, drag and drop the spreadsheet file into CopyDoc, select the tab, choose the sync order, and click Sync Rows.
